Covid-19 & BNBeauty

Covid-19 has disrupted the lives of the entire world. The pandemic that is ravaging countries everywhere, is very important to remember when choosing to go to a salon. The beauty industry is a hands-on industry. There is simply no avoiding it. So the questions remain… can we maintain six feet of distance? No. Can we do our best to create a sterile and safe environment to work in? Yes.

In Arizona, I was one of the first to close my doors when Covid-19 came knocking. I live with a high risk individual and the thought of bringing it home was terrifying. No life is worth a haircut and no amount of money could replace the guilt of exposing loved ones to a deadly virus. Closing my salon doors was a scary move, but one I stuck by wholeheartedly. My fears were met with agreement when Arizona’s governor finally included salons in his list of non-essential businesses. Only a few weeks later, with the cases still skyrocketing, Arizona opened up too soon. I took my time going back into the workforce. Cases continue to rise and fall in Arizona and the beauty industry has had little guidance on how to move forward through these trying times. Reluctantly, and out of fear of losing my business for good, I got to work on making my Sola Salon Studio the safest it could possibly be for myself and for my clients. I am extremely lucky to be in a single studio at this time. If I were in a shared space, I would not feel confident in being able to keep you safe. My room offers a one-on-one experience.

I have implemented a long list of precautions in order to run a safe salon environment. All of these precautions are in place to make sure both the client and myself feel safe, comfortable, and at the lowest risk possible for virus transmission during a hands-on service.

They are as follows:

•If you have been around someone who is sick, you are sick, or feeling under the weather in any way, then I ask that you please reschedule from two weeks out from when you are healthy. I am only seeing clients who have been maintaining social distancing and healthy procedures as best they can.

•When you arrive at Sola, please wait in your car and text me that you are there. I will let you know when you can enter the building and I will have to let you in (through the back parking lot door) as the doors are now locked all day.

•You must wash your hands before coming into my studio.

•Only one client is allowed in my studio at a time and there is no waiting in the hallways permitted.

•Masks are required in all parts of the Sola building. If you do not have a mask, I will have them available to purchase for $4.

•I will be taking temperatures when you arrive with a no-touch thermometer. If your temperature is too high, we will need to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

•I can not provide drinks in my studio and ask that you bring your own for the time being. Food will not be allowed.

•All personal items must be kept in a sanitized bin when you arrive so please don’t place things on any surfaces.

•I will be deep cleaning the salon between each client, and as usual providing fresh towels and capes each time. There is a HEPA Air-Filter going at all times to clean the air of any toxins and dust. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to offer warm face towels with my men’s haircuts at this time.

•I will be signing for your credit cards to minimize handling of your personal items. Cash, Venmo or Zelle payments are also accepted.

These new rules can be overwhelming and I urge you to please stay home if going out makes you uncomfortable in any way. I also understand that your hair appointments are normally a time of peace, solitude, and reflection. I honor each of my clients and do practice what I preach. Since March, I have been practicing safe social-distancing measures, put a hold on traveling, and remained in my home for most of the time. When I do go out (to the store or to walk my dog), I always have on my mask to keep myself and others safe.
